How to install CWM Recovery on Micromax Canvas HD A116

After the great success of Micromax Canvas 2 they have launched their second smartphone named Canvas HD A116. It’s an awesome phone with great features like it supports modern gaming, IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, 1 GB RAM, Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 and running on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean), planned upgrade to v4.2 (Jelly Bean). Now i will show you the tutorial how to install clockworkmod recovery on your mobile. Just follow the instructions carefully given below. Thanks.

Requirements:

1. Your mobile should have 70 – 80% battery
2. Make sure that you have enabled USB debugging (All apps > Settings > Manage Applications > Development > USB Debugging – check box)
3. Ensure you have backed up your important data.
4. Install USB drivers on your PC from here.

Follow Step By Step:

Step 1: Download SP Flash Tool and extract it on desktop.
Step 2: Download MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt and ClockWorkMod Recovery.
Step 3: Open “Flash_Tool.exe” from the extracted folder.

Step 4: Now, you have to select the file to install CWM Recovery on Micromax A116 Canvas HD as per below:

• Click on “Scatter-loading” button and choose “MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt“

Step 5: As you will select the above file, many entries will be loaded. Make sure you untick all the entries except “recovery“.

Step 6: Now, click on “recovery” and choose “clockworkmod recovery.img”
Step 7: Take out the battery from phone and Click on “Download” button on SP tools, ignore warning(s) and hit “yes“.
Step 8: Immediately, connect your phone to computer via USB and it will install CWM Recovery on Micromax A116 Canvas HD. You can also check the progress in the progress bar.
Step 9: When you see the big green ring, it means you have successfully installed CWM Recovery on Micromax A116 Canvas HD and you can disconnect your device.
